Childhood TB
Childhood TB empowers healthcare workers to learn about the primary care of children with tuberculosis. Our aim is to improve the care of children with TB in all communities, especially in poor peri-urban and rural districts of southern Africa.
Childhood TB covers:
- an introduction to TB infection
- the clinical presentation, diagnosis, management and prevention of tuberculosis in children
- HIV/TB co-infection
Childhood TB was developed by paediatricians with wide experience in the care of children with tuberculosis, under the auspices of the Desmond Tutu Tuberculosis Centre at the University of Stellenbosch.

About the authors
A previous head of neonatal medicine at UCT, David Woods consulted to UNICEF and the WHO, and is developing distance-learning courses and innovative, power-free medical devices for health professionals in under-resourced countries.
Prof Rob Gie is a faculty member of the Tygerberg Academic Health Complex and the University of Stellenbosch. He is also involved in TB training in other countries including UN programmes.
